Duration
3-5 days (we work around your availability)
Minimum age
15 years (10-14 years: see Junior Open Water)

You'll learn to handle diving equipment on your own, communicate underwater, dive safely using decompression tables, dive with the buddy system, respect the environment, plan and carry out real dives, and prevent and handle problems that might come up: in short, everything you need to become an independent diver.

The course has a theory part, done partly at your own pace with the help of the SSI App (you can read the theory and take self-tests whenever you like, and afterwards an instructor will go over what you've read and clear up doubts with audiovisual support and practical demonstrations on land), and a practical part.

In the practical part you'll do 5 open-water dives, starting the first sessions at 3 metres deep and progressively increasing the depth and difficulty of the underwater exercises. On the last dive you'll reach 18 metres, the maximum depth allowed by this certification.

Requirements

  • Be over 15 years old (10-14 years: see Junior Open Water)
  • No health conditions incompatible with diving
